STATE TAX RELIEF NOW

Attend the Nebraska Taxpayers for Freedom monthly meeting on Wed. Aug. 21, 6:30 PM at Millard Library, 132^nd & Westwood Lane, Omaha.  Guest speakers: Sens. Charlie Janssen and Pete Pirsch, both members of the legislature’s Tax Modernization Committee.  They will encourage us to lobby the committee to not only reform the state tax system but also give us needed tax relief.  Please bring your friends and questions.

MAYOR JEAN STOTHERT SPEAKS TO NTF

Wed. July 17, 6:30 PM.  Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert will speak to NTF members about her FY 2013-14 city budget at our monthly meeting.  Millard Library, 132^nd & Westwood Lane, Omaha.  Please bring friends & neighbors to listen and mobilize to support her fiscally conservative budget. 

5th ANNUAL INDEPENDENCE DAY TEA PARTY JUNE 29th.

Nebraska Taxpayers for Freedom and Liberty Ladies-Omaha will sponsor a 5^th Annual Independence Day Tea Party celebration on Saturday, June 29, from 1 PM to 3 PM, at Walnut Grove Park, 150^th & Q Streets, Omaha.  Guest speakers are Cong. Lee Terry, gubernatorial candidate State Sen. Charlie Janssen, and Shane Osborn, Navy Pilot Hero, POW, recipient of the Distinguished Flyer Cross, and now Senate candidate.  There will be patriotic music and drawings for prizes.  We ask tea partiers to bring a picnic lunch, signs, and Flags.

Taxpayers often complain about public officials raising our taxes, but few take the time or effort to find out precisely which officeholders raise our taxes and spend our tax dollars recklessly.  Nebraska Taxpayers for Freedom is publicizing the names and mug shots of elected and appointed officials in local taxing authorities who vote against the interests of taxpayers.             *                                                           *                                                           *                                   *
On May 9, only 3 Papio-Mo. River Natural Resources District board members, Curt Frost, Scott Japp, and Dave Klug, voted for taxpayers, against a resolution to issue a $42.6 million bond (paid back by property taxes) to raise money for an unneeded dam in northwest Douglas County.  NTF and the Papio Valley Preservation Comm. both lobbied actively against this bond issue, favoring instead low impact development that would cost much less.  The following 8 NRD Board members we nominated to the Taxpayers Hall of Shame:

ATTEND OUR PROPERTY VALUATION SEMINAR

Nebraska Taxpayers for Freedom will sponsor a town hall meeting to instruct property owners how to challenge their higher property valuations.  The meeting is on Thu. May 30, 6:30 PM at Millard Library, 132^nd & Westwood Lane, Omaha.  The presentation includes the history of property valuation increases, a Power Point lesson on how to challenge a higher home valuation, and proposed property valuation relief legislation in the legislature. 

 

NEBRASKA TAXPAYERS FOR FREEDOM MONTHLY MEETING

HEAR GOV. HEINEMAN SPEAK ON TAX REFORM, MEDICAID EXPANSION

Governor Dave Heineman will speak on comprehensive tax reform and the negative effects of Medicaid expansion at a meeting sponsored by Nebraska Taxpayers for Freedom on Wed., April 17, 6:30 PM at Westside Community Center, 108^th & Grover Streets, Omaha.  This meeting is free and open to the public.  Attendees should bring their questions in writing. 

ATTEND OUR TEA PARTY AND SPEECH BY THE GOVERNOR

Nebraska Taxpayers for Freedom will hold its annual Tax Day Tea Party on Saturday, April 13, from 2 PM to 4 PM at Walnut Grove Park, 150^th & Q Streets, Omaha.  The theme of this year’s Tea Party is “Great Expectations,” regarding the great expectations on tax and spending control that we expect from conservative candidates in the present city election.  Guest speakers are as follows: Jean Stothert, candidate for Mayor of Omaha, as keynote speaker.   Omaha City Council candidates Ed Truemper (District 1), Rich Pahls (District 5), and Aimee Melton (District 7), and several Omaha Public School board candidates.  There also will be patriotic music and drawings for prizes. 

According to the Tax Foundation, Nebraskans will work this year until April 12 to pay their federal, state, and local taxes.
