Taxpayers
often complain about public officials raising our taxes, but few take the time
or effort to find out precisely which officeholders raise our taxes and spend
our tax dollars recklessly. Nebraska
Taxpayers for Freedom is publicizing the names and mug shots of elected and
appointed officials in local taxing authorities who vote against the interests
of taxpayers.

On May 9, only 3 Papio-Mo. River Natural Resources District board members, Curt Frost, Scott Japp, and Dave Klug, voted for taxpayers, against a resolution to issue a $42.6 million bond (paid back by property taxes) to raise money for an unneeded dam in northwest Douglas County. NTF and the Papio Valley Preservation Comm. both lobbied actively against this bond issue, favoring instead low impact development that would cost much less. The following 8 NRD Board members we nominated to the Taxpayers Hall of Shame:
