pass LB 63, sponsored by Sen. Eliot
Bostar. His bill would prohibit NE
telecommunication companies from gaining state Universal Service Fund money, if
they use equipment manufactured by Huawei and ZTE, 2 Red Chinese tech companies
designated by the FCC as national security threats. The FCC banned the sale of various equipment
from these 2 firms in Nov. 2022. The
companies use their equipment for espionage, and this bill would protect our
national security. The ban would take
effect in 2025.
